The video function can thus be used when the exchanges begin to be fluid, and the two parties are ready to meet by video. This exchange can be activated from a dedicated icon. A principle of reciprocity is presented to those concerned, and is not very different from that of a “match”. Thus, the video conversation only starts when both participants have accepted it.
For designers of Tinder, this system directly compensates for the restrictions observed during confinement. It came to fruition after an in-depth user survey. This study showed that more than half of Tinder users preferred video exchanges, outside of the dating app. Tinder has also thought about the possible security issues that this feature could cause. Thus, a preventive message is provided before each call to remind you that nudity, harassment, sexual content, and any form of illegal content are prohibited.
