Dating apps continue to grow in popularity

Dating apps and sites have expanded our options for finding love. Although most of these platforms are quite new, they have become the new standard for finding partners.

According to figures from a survey carried out by Pew Research, dating sites do not only bring together young people. The figures are clear: if 48% of 18-29 year olds frequent them, these sites also attract those under 50. The latter would represent nearly 38% of registrants, all platforms combined. Those over 50 are also affected, and represent around 16% of those registered. These numbers increase a notch among the LGBTQ+ community. This would represent nearly 55% of members, all applications combined. Lesbians, gays and/or bisexuals over the age of 18 who use these applications thus form a significant portion of the attendance rates.

They are also the most numerous to seek lasting relationships there, and to marry their partners met online. According to a journalist from Parade: “One of the main advantages is that with online dating you can connect with a large number of eligible singles to see who you really connect with and who want to know more“. She also reminds us that dating applications do not limit your possibilities to suggestions from your region alone. More broadly, dating apps would help Internet users to better define what they are looking for in a partner, whether they are passing through or open to a lasting relationship.
